What We Do
Placement
When a feral colony caregiver feels that the cats need to be relocated, they contact Barn Cats via
email: info@barncats.org or telephone: 972-315-2875.
ALL contacts are returned. Barn Cats will accept cats dependent on space available.
As cats are placed over each weekend, cages are freed up to take in other cats waiting for placement.
In-take occurs several times each week on a pre-arranged schedule. A waiting list is maintained and is
based on first-in, first out. Sometimes the list is overridden by cats that are being threatened by poisoning,
shootings, and other serious situations that require immediate attention.
Equipment Loan
Often, someone will want to move a feral cat, have a need to house a feral cat in their home, or they have
a barn identified to place the cat but have no way to confine the cat for the relocation period. In that case,
Barn Cats will loan equipment for the relocation. Standard set up is one double cage per cat:
- 2 cages together for 2 x 6 feet of space (Bargain Hound A-36 cages)
- Door at each end
- Litter box at one end
- Feeder and waterer at the other end
- Hiding box for cat (old door-less carrier or top of covered litter box)
- Bed, rug, or sheet in the hiding box
- Litter scoop
Anyone needing to borrow equipment will sign a form accepting responsibility for the
return of all the items. Average borrow time is 2 months.

Barn Cats can also Recommend:
- Feral-friendly organizations to assist with trapping, loan of traps, etc.
